Light Period Two Days Before Period Due

Ep 52: Take all your experiences

Today's topic was inspired by an email sent to me by my friend Angelo.

Every situation that life presents us an opportunity to practice virtue. But before continue, what is virtue? To share a common definition, as always I turned to my friend Wikipedia. The definition of virtue that we propose is: "Virtue is that inner strength that allows man to make and carry out the right decisions in the most adverse turn in his favor, the virtuoso is one that is on track to be wise, because he knows how to reach your goals without stepping on the others, because it puts others on their side and takes them to reach a common goal. A virtue is a positive attribute of a being, person or thing by exposing the advantages of that qualifying body. It is also one of the most important tools for success. The opposite of virtue is vice. "

Well, every culture values different strengths and I do not mean to say here which virtues are better than others, much less what I want is to help you be sure or certain that you unclear what values or virtues that are important to you. Why is it important to be clear? Well, because many times to make decisions in your life, be clear what are the virtues and values that are most important to you, you can make that decision a lot easier, just make sure you are in alignment with your values and virtues.

In an earlier episode (the exact episode 31) talked how important it was to define your values before you set goals, and that it was advisable not to choose more than 10 values and also regularly review, 2 or 3 times a year, because ... hey, we all change and our priorities change as well, so it is normal that our values vary according to our own personal changes. But knowing what your strengths and values is only the first step. We need to practice. Practicing virtue may seem difficult, but life always gives us opportunities to practice ahead. Every situation that life presents us an opportunity to practice virtue.

Difficult situations require us to implement domestic resources, and also reveal weaknesses that we may never detected. If we do not detect our weaknesses, we could work on them badly, to turn them into strengths, therefore, to find these weaknesses through difficult situations, but at the time might seem a bad thing, or certainly uncomfortable, is actually a gift, the gift to bring to our consciousness, our attention, we have this opportunity to improve.

If we find a verbally abusive person, then we need to exercise patience. Clearly reacting the same way that this person is acting, not going to take us very far, although it may reflecting our behavior, our reaction "normal" learned, we have the option to choose how we react, and in this case, if we can identify the opportunity to exercise patience and restraint in this situation, we will have taken advantage of a bad situation.

If we find an injured person, compassion and empathy is what it takes to receive it and give you what you need at that time. Even if we find a very attractive person, you may need self-control and temperance. If something goes wrong or does not go as expected, can be an opportunity to exercise self-control, acceptance, patience.

Every day every moment, every experience is an opportunity to improve and reflect on how we grow and develop, and an opportunity to discover things about ourselves we did not know: what frustrates us, what makes us happy, what attracts us, what is repellent, what are our strengths and what we need to strengthen, what we are good and which need improvement.

Sometimes human beings tend to avoid the experiences, emotions, perhaps by a protective instinct avoid exposing them to situations where you might need an emotion that we feel comfortable, or have not ever experienced. Or situations where there is a risk that we get hurt, but it is also possible that we get a lot of happiness, often prefer not to risk it, for fear of emotion that is unfamiliar, or simply do not like. That's happened to you? Not wanting to start a new friendship or romantic relationship for fear of it and not get hurt? He did not want to try a new business for fear that even if it would fail, would be the job of your dreams? How often have you limited in your daily life experiences for fear that things do not go the way you expect?

The key is to stop a second and listen to your intuition. Let your body give you the answer, not your mind. Quiet your mind and focus your attention on your body, your stomach, your heart. What do they say? Your body, your inner wisdom, knows what is best for you, even when your mind is Teresita. The good news is that the more you use your inner wisdom is stronger, so to PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!

Now I am going, you have a super good week, take advantage of all your experiences, a hug and a nice trip!
